Handmade with love in Richmond, Virginia
Textile and Mixed Media Art
Spring Festival Season is upon us!
Here’s a run down of the shows we’ve applied to and where we hope we’ll see you!
April 26 - Art on the Square
We’re hoping to join Art on the Square for the first time this year! Located in Williamsburg, Virginia, Art on the Square has been held for 60 years. We should know in the next few weeks if we’ve been selected to join the lineup this year.
May 2 and 3 - Arts in the Park
Located at The Carillon in Byrd Park, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that our application is accepted for this hometown arts festival. Arts in the Park is one of our favorite annual events to attend, and we’d love to be there this year to vend!
May 9 - Amelia Day Festival
Celebrating Amelia County’s 291st birthday, we’re returning to this classic Virginia festival this spring. Stay tuned for booth information!
Also!
June 6 - Ashland Strawberry Festival
This was one of our favorite events last year, and we’re hoping to be back on the streets of Ashland this year too!
We’re two best friends who picked up our craft during the long days of the pandemic. We do this for the joy it brings and love sharing that joy with others!
Meet Stitches
Billie spends her nights in front of a sewing machine covered by loose bits of thread while “reading” audio books about murder, mystery, and intrigue. A veritable Jill of All Trades, she taught herself to sew in April 2020 to make masks for her kids and coworkers.
Fast forward another year and she traded the masks for quilts and baby blankets. Another few years later and now she’s the queen of turning thrift store finds into amazing, handcrafted bags and satchels. Each stitched by machine and finished with by hand with beautiful embellishments.
Meet Stones
Leigh Anne spends her nights at her kitchen counter with a box of rocks, baubles, and quilled paper on one side and a perpetually on hot glue gun on the other. Reality TV on blast and a cold glass of Chardonnay close by, she imagines whole worlds through tiny colorful rocks and bits of glass.
Crafting isn’t new to her - she started as a stitcher - but mixed media art is. She loves bringing nature to canvas through found objects and repurposed pieces. From flora to fauna and everything in between, she brings whimsy and joy to framed works of art.
Why now?
After years of creating pieces for family and friends, the Stitcher and the Stoner decided to bring their show on the road to have something fun to do on the weekends and share their passions with others.
Let’s get social!
